How to plan an ERP migration without losing data

A migration succeeds or fails on data quality. Start there.

1. Cleanse

Remove duplicates, archive dead records and agree on one naming convention before anything moves.

2. Map

Build a field-by-field mapping sheet from the old system to Odoo models, with owners for every decision.

3. Dry-run

Run the full import on a copy at least twice. Time it and record every error.

4. Reconcile

Compare trial balance, stock valuation and open orders between old and new before go-live.
